“Population movement and material culture: Digital mapping of Chalcidice from Prehistory to Historical Times”
The Ephorate of Antiquities of Chalcidice and Mount Athos implemented the project “Population movement and material culture: Digital mapping of Chalcidice from Prehistory to Historical Times” , incorporated into the Operational Program 'Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship, Innovation 2014-2020'.
This broad and multi-level project utilizes almost all modern digital media to highlight and project in an innovative way an important part of the rich cultural capital of the Chalcidice region. Thus, augmented reality digital technologies, 3-dimensional digital models, interactive digital tour applications, interactive maps, audio-visual art installations combined with archaeological and historical research, constitute services of expanded digital access to historical and cultural information, enhancing the immersive experience of the historical past. We are confident that these innovative tools will enrich the visitors’ experience, attract new public groups and complement local cultural and touristic development.
